Euro2016: Germany a ‘cut above the rest’ - Italy boss Conte

Italy manager Antonio Conte has conceded that Germany are the best team at Euro2016.

Conte's Azzurri defeated reigning European champions Spain 2-0 in the Round of 16 on Monday evening to set up a quarter-final with World champs Germany.

After masterminding an impressive triumph over the Spaniards, Conte will now attempt to get past Joachim Low's Die Mannschaft, who he admits are the highest quality team in the competition.

The task will be made all the more difficult as Thiago Motta will be absent due to suspension and Daniele De Rossi is in doubt with a fitness issue.

"We are coming into this after a 4-1 defeat in Germany in March lest people forget," he said after Giorgio Chiellini and Graziano Pelle scored against Spain.

"We are playing against the best side in the Euros bar none. This was a great feat today and we will need a titanic effort on Saturday. (Thiago) Motta is suspended and that will penalise us because Daniele De Rossi has hurt his hip. We have already lost (Antonio) Candreva to injury.

"There are a lot of hurdles in our way, but we know when the going gets tough we respond well. I think Germany are a cut above the rest."
