Spanish international David De Gea has hit back at his critics after his subpar showing at Euro2016 on Tuesday.
De Gea has been dogged by a sex scandal during the European Championships and the goalkeeper has clearly not performed to his best in France.
The Manchester United star was at fault for the two goals conceded by Spain during their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Croatia in Bordeaux and there have been calls for the custodian to be dropped by Vicente Del Bosque for the knockout stages of the Euros.
De Gea is not too concerned about the criticism though and has instead stated that the detractors serve to only motivate him.
The 25-year-old posted on Twitter: “Just the defeated loses the illusion. Thanks for the critics, they motivate me. To keep fighting."
Sólo es derrotado el que pierde la ilusión. Gracias por las críticas, me motivan. A seguir luchando! pic.twitter.com/UPD2K3hiEC
