EURO2016: Arsenal new boy, Stoke ace Shaqiri in, Leicester midfielder out of Switzerland squad

Switzerland boss Vladimir Petkovic has name his final 23-man squad for the 2016 European Championships.

Arsenal signing Granit Xhaka and Stoke City star Xherdan Shaqiri are front and centre in the selection but there were some key omissions from the 28-man provisional roster.

Leicester City midfielder Gokhan Inler, who has previously captained the Swiss side, was left out as was former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos (now with Grasshopper) despite his experience of 55 caps.

Senderos' fellow former Gunners centre-half Johan Djourou, of Hamburg, was named alongside Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner, Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez, Watford midfielder Valon Behrami, highly-rated FC Basel striker Breel Embolo and Everton youngster Shani Tarashaj.

Switzerland have been drawn in Group A against hosts France, Albania and Romania. Their opening fixture takes place against Albania in Lens on June 11.
