Finland in their first ever Euro appearance defeated their near neighbours Denmark 1-0 in this Group B encounter.

However the game was overshadowed by Denmark's Christian Eriksen collapsing on the pitch just before half-time and seemingly needing CPR to revive him by the medical staff.

The game looked to have been abandoned but after a delay of around 90 minutes the players asked for the game to continue having heard that the Inter Milan and former Tottenham player was recovering in hospital.

Inevitably the second 45 minutes affected the Danes and despite dominating for long periods on home soil lacked the quality to break down a resolute Finnish defence.

The visitors went ahead against the run of play on 59 minutes when Pohjanpalo headed past keeper Schmeichel who seemed slow to react.

The Danes had the perfect opportunity to level when awarded a dubious penalty with 16 minutes remaining. But Højbjerg's weak penalty was easily saved by Hradecky.

Denmark were the better team before the break, being denied by keeper Hradecky on two occasions, but unsurprisingly were more subdued later and Finland held out for an historic win on a difficult night.
