Former Stoke City winger Matt Etherington is delighted for Charlie Adam over his form this season.

The Scot has been superb for the Potters in recent games.

Etherington wrote in The Sentinel: "Hard work usually pays off and nobody knows that better than Charlie Adam.

"I remember seeing him last season stay behind after training on a Tuesday and Thursday to do extra work.

"Charlie saw for himself there was a weakness in his game and so he'd do some short, sharp stuff with the fitness coach to improve it.

"Credit to him for putting in that bit extra that people don't see behind the scenes.

"And now he is reaping the benefits after Mark Hughes said after Saturday's draw with Sunderland that Charlie is now a 90-minute man."
