Espanyol take positive steps to address climate change

RCD Espanyol have partnered with Ecovidrio, a non-profit recycling group, in an effort to increase the amount of glass recycling at matches, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The pair have launched a campaign labelled 'El meu club recicla' – which translates to 'My club recycles' from the original Catalan. The campaign aims to recycle 3,000 kilograms of glass across fixtures for the men's, women's and youth teams.

As part of the initiative RCD Espanyol have installed recycling points at their RCDE Stadium and the Dani Jarque Sports City training centre. They will remain in place until 8th June as part of the partnership.

Through the activation of this partnership, the club are offering fans the chance to win a shirt signed by Espanyol players. Fans have to take a photo of themselves recycling glass at one of the designated points and share the image on social media.

A statement on the club's website read: 'RCD Espanyol and Ecovidrio want to emphasise that the values of sport are closely linked to the values of glass recycling.

'The agreement seeks to promote the recycling of glass in Barcelona and sensitise the hobby about the importance of glass recycling in the care of the environment and the fight against climate change.'
