Espanyol coach Diego Martinez: If the season finished today I'd be happy

Espanyol coach Diego Martinez admits he's delighted with their form facing Real Valladolid this weekend.

Victory would be the first time in four years that Espanyol have won three games in a row.

Currently sitting 12th on the LaLiga table, Espanyol are the sixth best performing team since the resumption of the season after the World Cup.

Martinez said, "If the League ended today I would be very happy, and if it had started after the World Cup, but it is not reality.

"We are improving. You have to work on many aspects. It is not worth saying today that we are reliable and it depends on what happens on Sunday we will have to continue being reliable, improving, growing... Consistency is related to individual performance, confidence and points... It is one of the Leagues more even.

"We cannot be with an emotional hangover, that is losing energy and not being distracted for a second."

Martinez added: "We haven't started planning for the next season. I think we lose perspective of reality. You see the opposition teams and you have to analyse them. They are all strong, competitive teams... They surprise for their equality. This only occupies us. In any case, my present is the team and to help the players."
