Espanyol have announced captain David Lopez is leaving the club.

The 32-year-old Catalan ends his stage as a pariquito player after 8 seasons and 272 official matches in which he has scored 13 goals.

In astatement issued by Espanyol, David López is spoken of as "one of the most important footballers in the history of the club", and a farewell ceremony is also announced that will take place next Tuesday at noon at the RCDE Stadium.

Lopez's departure follows the announcement that 40 year-old goalkeeper Diego Lopez is also departing as his contract expires this month.

Leandro Cabrera is in line to succeed David Lopez as Espanyol captain.
