Manchester City boss Sven Goran Eriksson has urged fans to back striker Georgios Samaras for tonight's Carling Cup tie against Norwich.

Eriksson said: "I have heard about the booing. Of course that will have affected him. I imagine it was the frustration but I hope it is over now. If you're playing at home and the public decide they don't like you it is hard.

"I hope the supporters will see him as one of our important players and treat him well."
