Eriksson lauds Leicester winger Gallagher as Beckham clone

Paul Gallagher set up all three goals in Leicester's 3-0 victory at Scunthorpe leading to Foxes boss Sven-Goran Eriksson comparing the winger to David Beckham. Defeat though keeps the home side four points from safety at the bottom.

Leicester had taken only one point from the previous four games and still remain outsiders for the play-offs.

The Swede said: "Last Tuesday we lost (to Norwich) in a bad way. We have talked a lot about it since and today we were very concentrated and showed aggression, we have come back in a brilliant way.

"With nine games to go, if we can show the spirit we showed today, we won't lose many games and we'll win a lot."

Eriksson added: "Gallagher's right foot is special, he is not far from Beckham in terms of his delivery of set-pieces.

"The pitch is what it is. We tried to play but only when there was no danger because the ball was very bouncy and so easy to lose."

Scunthorpe had revitalised their survival hopes with three wins out of their last four home games and boss Ian Baraclough was disappointed with the manner in which they conceded the goals.

He said: "We fell asleep at set-pieces and we've allowed them to get the first and second headers.

"You can't afford that when you're fighting relegation. When you get given jobs to do, you should be able to see them out."
