Erik Stoffelshaus is wanted in England by Southampton and Manchester United.

The Sun says Saints are set to rival United for the signature of Stoffelshaus as the club look to bring in a new sporting director.

Stoffelshaus, 48, who built a strong reputation in Germany and Russia at clubs such as Schalke and Lokomotiv Moscow, a major target for the South Coast club.

He is credited with helping stars such as Mesut Ozil and Manuel Neuer shine, whilst he also helped to bring in Ivan Rakitic.

The German is believed to also be on the shortlist for the same role at Manchester United as Ed Woodward looks to bring in a football-minded figure into the hierarchy at the club to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
