Jose Enrique says he would prefer to win promotion with Newcastle than force his way into Spain's World Cup squad, reports the Daily Star. The 23 year old admits that playing for his country is "a dream'' - but said: "I think Spain are a very good team now.
"Last year they won the European Championships and I think the World Cup is difficult for me because the squad is very similar to last year.
"It's my dream but it's very difficult.
"I try every game to get into the national team because I know it's very important.
"But, for me, what's more important is my club who pay my salary. That's Newcastle and what's more important is that this team goes back up to the Premier League.
"I would prefer that to playing in the World Cup."
