English clubs set to move for unwanted Celtic striker Stokes

Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City and Wigan Athletic are interested in Celtic striker Anthony Stokes, reports the Daily Mail.

According to the report, Stokes was recently informed by Hoops boss Ronny Deila that he is no longer part of the first-team plans at Parkhead.

Stokes signed a new three-year contract in 2013 and could command a fee of around £1.5million.

Deila was quizzed on Thursday on the absence of the player from the substitutes' bench against Qarabag in the Champions League qualifier.

"Anthony was left out because we found others better, so he has to fight to get back into the team again," the Celtic manager said. "I should hope he's not happy as everyone should be angry if they don't play but we're a team with teamwork and you get what you deserve from how you play in training and matches."
