England U21 coach Aidy Boothroyd says the battle for a player's commitment won't affect selection.
Everton winger Ademola Lookman has been the subject of interest from Nigeria, while Southampton keeper Angus Gunn has been linked to Scotland.
"I can't do anything about speculation but at the end we will put something to a player," said Boothroyd, whose side face Poland in Bristol on Thursday night. "We say: 'This is your opportunity, this is what you could be, this is what you could win'.
"If they don't want to do it or try and put pressure on by putting things in the papers I am not going to react to that. I'm sure it is just well-meaning people trying to get their player closer to the team but it's not like I'm going to panic and think 'Christ! I better get him in'. It doesn't work like that."
