England legend Seaman backs West Ham's Hart to be World Cup goalkeeper

Arsenal goalkeeping legend David Seaman has backed West Ham keeper Joe Hart to start for England at the 2018 World Cup. Hart has come under intense scrutiny during recent times as he has not been on the best of form so far this season.

The Hammers currently sit in 16th position on the Premier League standings with eight points from nine games and poor form from his team-mates has not helped his cause. The 30 year old has already let in 17 goals in the Premier League this season, including three against Brighton on Friday.

Seaman however feels that Hart to remain England first choice for the 2018 World Cup campaign and said: "I would stay with Joe for the World Cup. For me Joe is still England's No.1. The level he's played at for a long time is really good. Now the other guys are getting closer. That will push him.

"I had the same situation when I was with England - I knew the other goalkeepers were getting closer, it just made me try and train a little bit harder and try to play better. It just focuses your mind a bit better."
