Aston Villa star James Milner has been tipped to become an England captain of the future - by World Cup legend Sir Geoff Hurst. With David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard nearing the end of their international careers, the 24 year old is being tipped to be earn a regular place in England's midfield over the next few years.
"He is a possible England captain of the future, no doubt about it," said Hurst.
"He has got leadership qualities. He is a good lad, he has performed very well last season and his temperament is fantastic."
Hurst reckons Milner deserves a place in the Thee Lions' starting line-up for their first match in Rustenburg.
He added: "A year ago if we talked about him, many would have argued he was on the verge of the squad.
''But I think this last year with how he has performed for England and Aston Villa, he is almost in a position now where he is capable of demanding place in the team.
"He could argue he warrants a place in the team anywhere he wants to play because he has had that good a season, particularly in that centre position."
