England coach Capello delighted with Defoe, Rooney pairing

England coach Fabio Capello was delighted with his strike-pairing of Jermain Defoe and Wayne Rooney in their 4-0 victory over Euro2012 opponents Bulgaria last night.

Manchester United ace Rooney helped to set up all four goals, with Spurs ace Defoe scoring a hat-trick.

Capello told ITV: "We were really focused on the game, I'm really happy.

"Rooney and Defoe are fantastic players, four assists from Rooney and three goals from Defoe. They were really good in every moment during the game.

"I'm really happy with the performance of the two forwards - but also the other players."

Bulgaria coach Stanimir Stoilov said: "It is very hard for us to lose this game. At the end of the game we did not play with discipline tactically. We were a bit scared in the start and played badly.

"Just when we had found our game we conceded the second one and the game was over. England scored three goals on the counter-attack which does not speak well for us."
