England boss Gareth Southgate was tightlipped when asked if the scratch sported by Joe Gomez in training yesterday was caused by Raheem Sterling.
Southgate was not prepared to confirm whether or not Manchester City winger Sterling caused the scratch seen underneath Liverpool defender Gomez's right eye on Tuesday.
The Three Lions pair clashed at St George's Park on Monday ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro.
Asked if Sterling had caused the scratch on Gomez's face, Southgate responded: “The reality is I'm not prepared to go into detail.
“There is enough conjecture and opinion and talk out there – we don't need to add to that.
“I've said what I think needs to be said but we have to keep as much as we can between ourselves."
