England boss not worried about painkilling injections for Chelsea defender Cahill

England boss Roy Hodgson is not worried about Chelsea's defender Gary Cahill's fitness ahead of Euro2016.

It has recently emerged that the 30-year-old has been taking painkilling injections to overcome his long-running hip problem but Hodgson suggests it is not an issue as he prepares his side for Friday's friendly with Australia.

Hodgson said: "Cahill is not a serious one, he had an injection before [ Sunday's win over] Turkey but he was still slightly hampered by his hip and he knows the injury himself because he has dealing with it for a period of time.

"The doc felt a further injection would really clear that up, but it meant he couldn't play in this game because he needed three or four days rest afterwards. I decided with physio Gary Lewin and the doctor that this was the best thing to do.

"He's played a lot of football and as you heard me say that we've got three preparation games and it was very unlikely one player would play in all three preparation games from the beginning."
