Empoli coach Paolo Zanetti was delighted after their 1-0 win against Lecce on Monday night.

The result sees Empoli now well clear of the dropzone.

Zanetti later said: 'The team's embrace at the moment of the goal means a lot, I'm one of them. We faced a difficult moment and we know what we had to come up with, everything we had.

"We saw all the strength of our group. We continued to work hard on our concepts and in the last ten days we have pushed a lot. On the pitch you can see what we have in our heads, if we have a 12-point lead over the third from bottom there is a reason: we manage to win the games we have to win.

"We don't want to and we must not have excuses, we must be stronger than the variables that exist.

"Now Milan? Yesterday they had an extraordinary match against an impressive opponent (Napoli, 0-4). We want to make a good impression."
