Empoli director Marcello Carli has warned Fiorentina to get serious about Riccardo Saponara.

Saponara is valued at around €15m and has been linked with numerous clubs.

“I don't think we'd wait until August 15 to sell him, otherwise we'd have difficulty finding a replacement in such a short space of time," director of sport Carli told TGR Rai Toscana.

“If a good opportunity arises for him and for us, then we'll talk about it."

Fiorentina had seemed the hot favourites to snap up Saponara.

“I don't think they'll sign him, not just because they already have several players in that role, but also for economic reasons.

“He's quite expensive and Fiorentina probably cannot afford him."
