Villarreal coach Unai Emery was pleased after their 1-0 win at Europa Conference League opponents Austrian Wien.

Villarreal edged out Austria Wien by the narrowest of margins (0-1). The Yellows won the game at Viola Park thanks to a solitary goal from Nico Jackson late in the game.

Emery said, "We have a lot of respect for this competition and our opponents. Today we put in a very serious performance and we were disciplined in every way.

"They changed their approach completely. They didn't leave any space and we didn't play their game, they wanted us to rush and take advantage of our mistakes. We came here to win and we managed to do so."

Emery stressed that the objective in the UEFA Europa Conference League is none other than to finish top of the group: "Our objective is always to win and we wanted to finish first. I'm very happy because we played a very serious game. Now, we have to follow it up in LaLiga."
