Former Tottenham boss Terry Venables insists the Premier League's foreign legion is GOOD for the England national team.
Venables believes the number of foreigners in the Premier League has helped English youngsters off the pitch as well as on it.
"Back in my playing days you probably had to best the best in Great Britain to get into your club side," he said.
"Now you've got to be the best in the world and I don't think that's a bad thing.
"When we didn't have the foreigners playing here you used to meet continental opposition and think that they were on a different planet with some of the things they did.
"Now English lads have to beat all-comers just to get into their first team and that means they have to be prepared in the best possible way."
