Carlos Edwards is determined to keep Sunderland up - even if he is to leave in the summer.
The winger's future on Wearside is in no way certain, but he told safc.com: "The ambitions of this club are still intact, still strong.
"I've always said that patience is a virtue, although not everyone has that patience.
"I want the club to make it's mark in this division for years to come, regardless of who's here, but the players who are here now have to ensure that happens.
"We're just going to put what happened behind us, bury it in the ground and kick-start from here. We need everyone behind us. This club is at its strongest and its best when everyone is pulling together."
