Edwards not giving up on new Sunderland contract

Carlos Edwards refuses to give up on earning a longer stay at Sunderland.

"I'm going to work my socks off to hopefully get another deal here," the Trinidad & Tobago winger said. "I've got another year left and I would love to commit myself to Sunderland for another couple of years.

"Only time will tell, and it is up to me to play well and hopefully convince the manager to reward me with a new contract.

"But that is the least of my worries at the moment - the main task is to make sure that we retain our Premier League status."
