Carlos Edwards says Sunderland's players are aware of the prospect of four players arriving from Tottenham in the coming days.
Sunderland boss Roy Keane held talks last week with Younes Kaboul, Pascal Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio and Steed Malbranque.
"We are look to bring in players and hopefully sooner rather the later.
"But, us here at the moment, are looking to do a job and whoever comes in will have to do it as well. It's big money but some players come to the club to win things, others come for the money.
"Most of us are not on the biggest of wages, but we are all committed to making Sunderland into something big and that means challenging for Europe.
"We want new players of quality who are going to improve the team. Every team is looking to strengthen, so why not Sunderland?"
