Edvard Tagseth explains why he snubbed Liverpool contract

Former Liverpool youth prospect Edvard Tagseth has explained his decision to leave the Reds.

Tagseth now plays for Rosenborg in Norway at 19.

He could have made it with the Reds, but chose to take a different path to first team football with Rosenborg.

Tagseth told the Liverpool Echo: "There were loads of reasons [why I rejected a contract offer from Liverpool]. I struggled a lot with injuries and when that happens, you don't play as much as you want to.

"The only reason I went to Liverpool was to play football and when that didn't happen, I thought my future there wasn't going to be in the first-team, so I thought I would try something new.

"My injuries have settled now and I've been fit almost every day since I came here. Part of it is that it is so physical in England compared to in Norway.

"I had to think long about it and I remember the day I called my parents and told them I had made the decision to leave. It was really hard but it was good for my family to hear it - I wasn't enjoying myself as much as they would hope."
