Former Barcelona defender Edmilson has offered Lyon advice on how to handle Leo Messi.

Lyon are preparing to face Barca and Messi in the first-leg of their Champions League round 16 tie.

And on Messi, Edmilson said: "Do not take your eyes off him for a second! He always invents something new.

"He is believed to have died because he only ran 20% of the time on the pitch, and all of a sudden he'll come up with an opening for Jordi Alba, an unexpected move or shot.

"We must also highlight the role of Luis Suarez who does a lot of work and opens spaces for him. He is not the kind of technical player Barça is used to, but by his actions, he stands out impressively."
