Edin Dzeko: First Inter Milan goalscoring peformance very emotional

Edin Dzeko is delighted with his first weeks at Inter Milan.

The striker joined Inter earlier this month from AS Roma.

On scoring in victory over Genoa, Dzeko said: “It was an emotional day, especially as it was the first game with fans back in the stadium.

“My mother was at San Siro too. It was an important day, ending with our victory and a goal that I worked really hard for. I hadn't scored in a long time in Serie A, so it was important to break that drought and boost my confidence for the future.

“I feel like I've been playing here for years, I get along really well with my teammates and we work together smoothly. That's because there are many champions here who know how to play football, that's why I came to Inter."

He added: "I was nervous before the Genoa game and frankly that was unusual for me. I'd been at San Siro many times as an opponent, so I almost went into the wrong dressing room and Ivan Perisic redirected me.

“I heard many great things about Inzaghi from the players who worked with him. I saw the way Lazio played and was certain he'd be perfectly suited to me."
