Scotland boss Alex McLeish has backed Russell Anderson's move to Sunderland.

McLeish said: "I don't think anyone could blame Russell for moving on and have a chance to better himself and his family.

"No disrespect to Aberdeen but playing in the Premiership is a great dream for a lot of players. So good luck to him with his move.

"Russell is 28 and that is when you should be reaching your peak. Even when you are having an ordinary game you know you can disguise it with experience. That's what he should be able to do."
