Dyer relishing healthy Swansea competition

Swansea City winger Nathan Dyer is relishing the competition for first-team spots ahead of the new Premier League season.

Dyer faces completion from new arrival Andre Ayew while Jefferson Montero, Wayne Routledge and Marvin Emnes also provide options for wide positions for Garry Monk.

"I am feeling very strong. I have worked hard during the offseason," said the 27-year-old.

"I am sharp, I am strong and I am waiting for my opportunity to show I am the same flying machine that I can be.

"There is strength in every position so I have to be on top form to get in there. I am hoping I can chip in with a few goals and get my games.

"I am relishing the competition, it is healthy and important to drive players on. It has given an added edge to training."

Swansea take on reigning premiers Chelsea in their season opener at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
