Dyche not placing extra pressure on Burnley's relegation battle

Sean Dyche insists no points goal will be set for his Burnley team as they prepare to stave off relegation.

The Clarets sit third bottom on the Premier League table with 22 points and have just 11 matches to get themselves out of the mire.

Ahead of Wednesday night's meeting with the in-form Liverpool at Anfield, Burnley boss Dyche says the usual 40-point landmark for clubs to avoid the drop is not a goal for his side who just need to find some consistency for the results to take care of themselves.

"The market will tell us what we need but at the end of the day we need to keep building on performances and we need to win games," Dyche told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"We made it quite clear last year the way I think it's appropriate to work, we certainly aren't powerful enough at this level to start thinking about four games down the road. We have to think about the next one."

Dyche also insisted that Burnley would not fall into crisis mode as they go about mending their first campaign back in England's top flight.

"I don't think there's been any panic," he added. "There's certainly nothing from our fans, there's not been from the team or from myself.

"Only because there's a reality to the challenge. Panic I think is if you're Barcelona and you're in the bottom four, or (Borussia) Dortmund this season, they were bottom off the table until recently, that's panic, that's a different thing."
