Sean Dyche has insisted that Burnley are under no obligation to sell players this summer.

Aston Villa are in hot pursuit of goalkeeper Tom Heaton, who is in the final year of his contract with the club.

But Dyche has put those rumours to bed.

Dyche said to reporters: "No. We are always open with the players and the agents and we try to know what is going on.

"We are certainly not in a position to be selling players unless we choose to do so and we are in a position where we can hopefully buy players.

"We are never flush, I don't think the chairman is going to give me fortunes but if the right player comes along at the right level financially and it fits into what we can do and betters us and gives us more competition then that is what we want to do."
