Dyche admits frustration but realistic at Burnley transfer business

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has admitted frustration with his side's financial limitations in the transfer market.

The Clarets have spent just £3.6million on the signings of Charlton Athletic pair Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Nick Pope this summer which is probably not sufficient to be competitive enough in the Premier League.

However, Dyche is prepared to conduct his transfer dealings under financial restraints and is nonetheless looking forward to the upcoming season.

When asked about his side's transfer business, he told Sky Sports News HQ: "It's reality and frustration mixed together.

"There is a reality to the world of Burnley when it comes to recruitment. There are financial parameters and guidelines that I work under and they can be tough at times. The market is forever going north - the numbers get higher and higher.

"Everyone is looking for that quality. The loan system is changing so that makes it harder and the big teams have huge squads of talented youngsters. So the pool of youngsters gets tighter and softens.

"There are a number of things going against you and we have to work within that. We still think we can be productive with recruitment but also with the players we've got.

"But we are not naïve to the challenge. We know how tough it is. Everyone wants this, the players, the fans and the town wants it. We want to be in the Premier League.

"There are no short cuts and we've earned the right to be here. We worked very hard last season to be here. We just need add to what we've done in the past and add to that going forward."
