DW Stadium pitch conditions not ideal for Premier League

The pitch conditions at Wigan's DW Stadium have again been criticised following the 0-0 draw between the Latics and Bolton.

Trotters boss Owen Coyle was critical of the surface, admitting it should be better for the standard they are playing at but said the players just had to deal with it and play the best way they could in tough conditions.

"It has got to be said both teams were doing their utmost on a difficult pitch to try to make it a real Premier League game," Coyle said.

"It is always going to be difficult if there is rugby played at the level we are at, it is the best league in the world.

"Obviously the pitch wasn't conducive to free-flowing football but we got on as you have to and made the most of it."
