Dutch great Wim Kieft slammed Ajax for their collapse against Champions League opponents Tottenham.
Ajax blew a 3-0 aggregate lead as Spurs stormed back to draw 3-3 and reach the final on the away goals rule.
Kieft barked: “Why is Ajax willing to take all kinds of risks with a 2-0 lead to make 3-0 or to extend the lead to 3-1 at 2-1? Be economical, choose your moments carefully to increase the lead.
"This opportunity comes naturally as the competition progresses and Spurs gives more and more space away. You don't have to hunt for that.
"Something like this should never happen. José Mourinho was absolutely right when he stated that Ajax played football as if it were an average competition game against Vitesse. Incomprehensible."
The elimination of Ajax has little to do with bad luck for Kieft.
“Too much went wrong for that. The way things went wrong would be a major source of annoyance and disappointment for me."
