Dutch great Blind: Why Klopp's Liverpool close to being legendary

Dutch great Danny Blind admits Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool are on the brink of 'legendary' status.

Defending the Champions League title this season, Liverpool are also regarded as Premier League champions-elect in England.

Blind told AD: “Liverpool today still has to win its first English national title. Look at it this way, it is a great honour to already give them the 'legendary' stamp. But okay: they already won the Champions League and the Club World Cup. But what I look at with great interest is the way of playing, the hand of Klopp.

"All his teams stand for dynamism, for switching at the very highest speed, coupled with a lot of skill on the ball. That was also the case with Dortmund.

Roberto Firmino is the central striker, who drops to midfield to be playable. In the meantime, Salah, Mané or one of the backs are sprinting at full speed deep into the gap that Firmino is creating.

“And then there is the best part: what if you lose the ball, how do you stand as a team with so many players in the front? But the remaining defenders, with Klopp, is also in order with the few players that remain. That is really very handsome.

"It makes them special and distinctive in today's top football."
