Dundee United have welcomed loan signing Willo Flood from Cardiff City.

The 22-year-old midfielder - who made 25 appearances for the Championship club last season following a £200,000 switch from Manchester City and has also been capped at Under-21 level by the Republic of Ireland - has agreed a year-long deal at Tannadice.

"I'm confident he will do well for Dundee United," said Craig Levein, the Tannadice manager. "His style of play suits the SPL and will make him a firm favourite with our supporters. I was aware that a number of other clubs were interested in taking him and am pleased Cardiff City see this move as an opportunity for the player to improve his game."
