Dundee United have handed trials to released Sunderland defender Jassem Sukar.

The Tangerines have had the teenager on trial with the club for the last month, following his release by the English Premier League outfit in May, says the Evening Telegraph.

Sukar played for the club's Development League side in recent weeks.

United are expected to hand him terms once Sukar gains his international clearance.
