Dundee Utd learn of new venue for Greek Europa tie

AEK Athens have beaten a Uefa deadline to find an alternative venue for their meeting with Dundee United and it will now be played at Nea Smyrni Stadium, reports BBC Sport The Olympic Stadium pitch in Athens had been deemed unsuitable ahead of Thursday's second leg of their Europa League qualifier, which AEK lead 1-0.

AEK faced the prospect of being thrown out of the tournament.

But they have moved the tie to the 11,700-capacity Athens home of Superleague rivals Panionios.

"Initially, it was mooted to sources that the tie would be moved to Volos - some 300 km away," said the Scottish Premier League club's website.

"But AEK have now informed the club that the match will take place in Athens."
