French World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry says Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema should be back in the Les Bleus squad.

Benzema hasn't played for France since before the 2016 Euros after becoming embroiled in an alleged blackmail plot. But Dugarry says it's time for the striker to be recalled.

He argued: "French football wants to feast. We want to see the best players in France team. Until proven otherwise, Benzema is one of them.

"We all want to see them tidy up the ego and, at least, talk to each other (Deschamps and Benzema).

"Four years, a lot has happened. With Karim Benzema, the France team will be even better."
