Drinkwater: Leicester will 'wipe the slate clean' ahead of Champions League debut

Danny Drinkwater has stated that Leicester City want to begin on a clean slate following a terrible start to the new season.

The defending Premier League champions have endured a very difficult start to their campaign and the Foxes recently went down to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Saturday.

The loss was most certainly not the best way to prepare for their maiden Champions League match against Club Brugge on Wednesday and midfielder Drinkwater feels that the Foxes players want to head into the game with a clean slate by not dwelling on the Liverpool loss.

He said: "We need to wipe the slate clean and the quicker we can get over this, the better.

"We didn't really turn up, we weren't at our best all over the pitch. We were sloppy, we didn't put our stamp on the game and they were clearly the better side.

"But we won't dwell on this – the gaffer will make sure of that. The last time we were well-beaten (a 5-2 home defeat by Arsenal 12 months ago), we responded by going on a great run.

"We have a good team spirit here and it helps in moments like this."
