Drennan departs Aston Villa for Shamrock Rovers

Aston Villa have confirmed that Mikey Drennan has left the club.

The 20-year old striker has joined League of Ireland club Shamrock Rovers on a two-year deal after coming through Villa's youth academy.

Drennan arrived at Villa in 2010 before joining the senior ranks in 2014 but he never managed a senior appearance with the Villans.

The Irish youngster was a key part of the Villa side that took out the NextGen series in Europe in 2012/13, scoring six goals, which made him the U19 league's second top scorer.

Drenna, who has had previous loan spells with Carlisle United and Portsmouth, was set to come out of contract at the end of the current campaign.
