Colin Doyle could still have a future at Birmingham City.
Doyle could get a shock chance to revive his Birmingham career after Maik Taylor was injured in training.
Taylor is now set for at least two weeks on the sidelines.
City already are without their highly-rated England Under-17 shot-stopper Jack Butland after surgery on his hand.
Doyle, who earns £6,000-a-week at St Andrews, is out of contract in the summer and nearly joined League One Plymouth earlier this year.
