Donis backs Blackburn for victory against his Larissa

Blackburn Rovers have nothing to fear in UEFA Cup opponents Larissa, says former Rovers star Giorgis Donis.

Now boss at Larissa, Donis is excited at the prospect of entertaining Mark Hughes's side in Thursday's first round, first leg.

But he does not expect his Greek cup winners to cause a shock in the Panthessaliko Stadium in Volos. Donis said: "I'm very happy to face a club that has helped me a lot in my career, both as a player and coach.

"I am looking forward to the first match, but Blackburn are one of the biggest clubs in the Premiership and the chances are not by our side.

"We will try to do our best but Larissa is an upcoming team."

Former Newcastle centre-back Nikolas Dabizas is Larissa's captain, while other players in their squad include ex-Everton striker Ibrahima Bakayoko.
