Watford have swooped for Stevenage Borough defender Ben Wilmot.

The Hornets have signed teen prospect Wilmot for £1.5million from Stevenage.

The defender, 18, was wanted by a clutch of Premier League teams but has signed a five-year contract at Vicarage Road.

League Two outfit Boro will receive a club-record fee for the defender, who has represented England at Under-19 level.

Stevenage are happy to have the cash and will also try to bring Wilmot back on loan further down the line.
