Valencia have signed Barcelona midfielder Nico Gonzalez on-loan for the season.

Barcelona have announced that both the club and Valencia have reached an agreement for the loan without an option to buy. The midfielder will arrive at Mestalla to get the gametime that Xavi Hernández could not promise him.

Before that, the player renewed his contract with FC Barcelona until 2026. The canterano's release clause is set at 1000 million euros.

Nico Gonzalez needed to have some gametime this season to continue growing and at Barça, it was going to be especially difficult.

With the inside midfield already occupied and overcrowded and with the pivot covered by the untouchable Sergi Busquets and the alternative of Miralem Pjanic, the academy player had no choice but to look for a place elsewhere.
