DONE DEAL: Southampton welcome four new youth teamers

Southampton have announced the signing of four youth teamers.

Leon Pambou, Matthew Carson, Fedel Ross-Lang and the already announced signing of Luke Pearce join the club as part of the latest intake into the Under-18s.

All four have signed two-year scholarships, but both Pambou and Ross-Lang have also been offered professional contracts for a year to be at the club until 2023.

Pambou is a centre-back and arrives from Metz in France whereas Carson, a left back, joins from Glentoran in Northern Ireland.

The 16-year-old has represented the country at international level as part of the Club NI Programme, which is run by former Saints player Jim Magilton.

Left-sided player Ross-Lang arrives from Manchester City, and the group is completed with striker Pearce, who joined from Walsall.

Academy Director Matt Hale spoke about the work that has gone into obtaining the new acquisitions.

“We've got four new scholars who have joined us as part of our two models," he told the club's website.

"We have our own player pathway, but we also look at our recruitment to see if there are any players which can add value from across the UK and Europe.

“We managed to bring in four new lads, two from England, one from Northern Ireland and one from overseas to join our scholarship group. It's been a busy summer to get those lads in and training with the group."
