DONE DEAL: Southampton land Man City attacker Bellis, Yeovil prospect Rus

Southampton have secured Sam Bellis and Marco Rus to Academy scholarships.

Bellis, a versatile striker who can also play in wide positions, has completed a move away from boyhood club Manchester City, while attacking midfielder Rus has arrived from Yeovil Town.

Both will continue their development as part of Saints' Under-18s set-up, led by Paul Hardyman, and have the chance to challenge for a place in the team that competes in the Under-18s Premier League on Saturday mornings.

Academy Director Matt Hale said: "We are delighted to welcome both Sam and Marco to the club from Manchester City and Yeovil respectively.

“Both players have been signed as a result of our diligent talent ID and recruitment process, having monitored both closely for some time.

“Sam is an exciting forward player with good movement and strong potential. We were competing with many top clubs for his signature and we are delighted he chose us.

“Marco, having been at Yeovil for the past four years, has a real hunger and desire to succeed. He is a clever, tricky player who will offer creativity to the Under-18s group.

“We look forward to seeing both players grow and learn under the guidance of our coaching staff during their first year at the club."
