DONE DEAL: Sepp van den Berg excited making Liverpool move

Liverpool have signed young defender Sepp van den Berg.

The 17-year-old defender has agreed a £1.3m move from Dutch side PEC Zwolle which will officially go through on July 1.

Van den Berg, who was also wanted by Bayern Munich, becomes the latest new addition at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp continues to build with one eye on the future.

The teenager arrives as a senior signing but is expected to start in the development squad with a view to him being fed into the first-team set-up at a later date.

The fee for the deal could eventually rise to £4.4m based on appearances, with the final trigger reached if he plays 350 times for the Reds.

He told Liverpoolfc.com: “It's just an amazing feeling.

“It is, for me, the biggest club in the world and it's a dream come true. I am really excited. I've seen what kind of players from the Academy grew into the first team here. It is unbelievable, especially when this kind of big club does that.

“Of course, the trainer [Jürgen Klopp] is a great guy and one of the reasons they are successful – and also one of the reasons I came here."
